To spot fake Yeezy 35 0V2 Bred: look out for inconsistencies on the size tag. From fuzzy lines to poor quality of printing on the label to misplaced letters and so on. If anything looks amiss on the size tag, then you can be certain you are looking at a fake pair of Yeezy 350 V2 Core Black/Red.

Want to learn how to spot fake Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred (Core Black Red) CP9652?

We are the only company that writes full, exhaustive authentication guides for sneakers, covering as many details as possible: from the shoe’s sole to the size tag and the way the laces are positioned.

It might be hard to tell real vs fake Yeezy Bred, so we’ve attached below detailed comparisons with both authentic and replicas, just so you can understand easier.

We’ve written hundreds of guides on many Yeezy 350 V2, as we’re aiming at creating the biggest library of legit check guides.

Follow this guide to find out for yourself how to authenticate these sneakers, along with answers to different questions you might have.

How to tell if your Yeezy 350 V2 Bred is fake

To tell if you have a real or fake Yeezy 350 V2 Bred, check the size tag inside each shoe. Fake pairs always have thinner inscriptions that are misaligned, while real pairs are flawless.

Let’s jump into the guide!

1. Barcode scan

A lot of people discard the packaging once they unbox the fake sneakers, so replica manufacturers do not care to put effort into the barcode on a box that will be discarded soon afterwards.

That’s thankfully something very good for us since scanning the barcode can weed out 95% of the fake Yeezy Bred.

  • Every colourway and size has an accompanying unique barcode.
  • This means that the barcode attached to Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred in size 5 will be different from the barcode assigned to a size 8 of the same product.

What happens is that fake manufacturers do not spend precious time and money trying to get the barcode right for every shoe they replicate. Instead, they are always more focused on trying to make the sneakers as identical as they possibly can and this is why this test is almost always fool-proof.

Scanning a barcode and noticing in the results the same colourway does not automatically mean the sneaker is authentic.

Moreover, simply finding the same size and colourway does not mean the sneaker is authentic — a broken clock is right twice a day. The purpose of this test is to quickly weed out fakes

1.1. How the scan it

  • Download and install the Legit Check App on your phone.
  • Open the app.
  • Tap on the barcode scan icon on the app (the grey button below).
  • Focus the camera on the barcode of your Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred box.
  • Look at the results.
Legit Check Barcode Scan Sneakers

Now, determining the authenticity of your sneakers from the results of the barcode scan is where your judgement will come into play.

1.2. Authentic results

  • If there are several confirmations on Google for your particular barcode, (including the colourway and size combination), then you can assume the box is from the original manufacturer.
  • If your scan results look like the image below, then the box is most likely authentic.
  • Now, note that we say the “box” not the sneakers itself because there is still the possibility that fake sneakers may come in the original packaging.

We need to take into account every single scenario possible in this universe so as to back our claim that we’re making the most exhaustive guides.

1.3. Fake results

  • On the other hand, if you scan the barcode of your Yeezy V2 350 Bred box and the Google result page looks like the one in the image below, your shoes are not authentic.
  • As such you can be certain you have a fake pair of sneakers with you.
  • If the barcode results in other colourways of the V2, or even if it is the same colourway but with a size that does not match that of the sneakers you scanned, then it is still not an authentic pair.
  • It is important to understand that your barcode can only be deemed to be authentic when both the size and the colourway combination match the pair you scanned.

The purpose of this test is to quickly weed out fakes: if any anomaly occurs, such as:

  1. Another colourway is returned multiple times
  2. The same colourway is returned but in multiple sizes
  3. Nothing relevant is returned, just like in the example above

Then you’re looking at a fake. If that’s not the case, keep on using our further comparisons in this guide.

If anything we’ve said was not clear, be sure to check our full barcode scan test guide here — what we’ve done so far is simply put in front of you the short story.

2. Size tag

The Yeezy 350 V2 Bred have been released a couple of times. We’ll now look at each.

2.1. The 2017 release

2.1.1. The “Made In China” Label Print
  • The letters on the fake are slightly bolder compared to the thinner ones of the real size tag.
  • The letters are also more widely spaced out on the replica size tag.

The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred is produced in China as you will find indicated at the top of the size tag.

2.1.2. The “US UK FR JP CHN” Print Text
  • The US UK FR JP CHN text on the second row is thicker on the fakes than it is on the real size tag.
  • While the text is printed above the table lines to make it look like the letters are floating on the real tag, the letters on the fake are quite close to the table lines, with very little space between the letters and the line below it.
  • You may also notice slight ink blotting on the “S” of the US, an indication of the poor quality printing on the label.

On the second row, just below the “Made In China” text is the “US UK FR JP CHN” print which is used to indicate the different sizing labels for the respective countries.

2.1.3. The APE Number Print
  • Here, having either CLU or APE inscriptions is okay.

Both of these texts are found on the replicas, therefore they’re not reliable tells for differentiating between the fake and real Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Black Red (Bred).

2.1.4. The dot above the Adidas Logo
  • On the authentic pair of Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred, you will notice a small and almost negligible dot on the top of the Adidas logo.
  • This dot is, however, missing on the fake, another indication of poor attention to detail in replicas.
2.1.5. The Adidas Copyright ® Location
  • If it is a fake Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred, you will notice the ® symbol touching the “s” on the Adidas logo, which is often a result of ink blotting.
  • Sometimes, it just looks like a black circle with no legibility.

On the original, however, the printing is of higher quality so there is no ink blotting and you will see the ® entirely legible and clearly spaced from the “adidas” text.

2.1.6. The slash on the MALE/MÂLE Text Print
  • On the fake size tag, however, the letters are clearly spaced out so there is a distinction in where the slash begins and stops.

On the original Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred sneakers, you will notice that the letters are closely printed such that the slash in the text is almost touching the “E” and “M”.

2.1.7. The UPC/EAN Code Text Print
  • The UPC/EAN code is the serial number with a hashtag on the second to the last row of the size tag.
  • In the original size tag, the numbers are thinner while the text in the counterfeit tag has a bolder style.

If you notice that the  UPC/EAN code on the size tag does not match what is on the box label, there’s no need to worry — some original pairs come like this.

We’re pointing out that we’re not considering this as a reliable tell on how to spot a fake Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred.

2.1.8. The Font on the ART or FU
  • The row above the UPC/EAN Code is the ART code.
  • Again, the poor quality of printing on the size tags of the fake Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred is a lot bolder than the printing on the authentic pair which is significantly thinner and smaller.
2.1.9. The appearance of MALE/MÂLE text print
  • If you have the fake 350 V2 Bred, then you will notice a bolder and thicker shape in the appearance of the text.

However, in the original pair, with the finer and better quality printing, the text is thinner and slightly longer.

2.1.10. The font on the 11/16 serial numbers
  • Here, the font on the original side tag differs from what is found on the replica.
  • On the original version of the Yeezy Bred, the numbers are slightly bigger than the figures on the fake tag.
  • The slash that separates the numbers is interrupted in the middle but the one on the fake sneakers runs uninterrupted all the way to the end.

It is pertinent to note that the production date can vary and as such, we don’t consider whatever numbers are written here as a reliable tell of authenticating the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Black Red (Bred).

Yet again, what we want to notice is whether there’s any inconsistency in text printing quality.

2.1.11. The spacing between “I” and “N” in “CHINA”
  • If you have a replica of the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred, you will spot an extra space between “I” and “N” in “CHINA”.

On the authentic pair, however, the letters are all evenly spaced, an indication of the attention to detail.

2.1.12. The appearance of the “C” in “CHINA”
  • On the first row, another inconsistency you will notice in the letters is in the appearance of the “C”.
  • In the original size tag, the  C is well in line with the other letters, in size and style.
  • However, on the replica, the C is thicker and weirdly spaced out from the rest of the text.

2.2. The 2020 release

This is a comparison of the restocked real vs fake Yeezy 350 V2 Bred, from 2020.

What we previously looked at was the 2017 release, as they’re the originally-released 350 V2s.

2.2.1. The “MADE IN CHINA” text
  • On the fake, the “MADE IN CHINA” text at the top of the size tag is too thin.

On the other hand, the genuine Yeezy Bred 2020 shoes have their text looking thicker and more defined compared to the fake pair’s text.

2.2.2. The factory manufacturing the shoes’ text
  • The “EVN” text is too thick compared to the “EVH” on the real pair’s print.
2.2.3. The “MALE/MÂLE” text
  • Both the real and fake Yeezy 2020 Bred pairs may or may not have MALE/MÂLE inscriptions.
  • So whether your sneakers feature the text or not, it is perfectly fine.

Therefore, we do not consider this specific inscription as a way of spotting the fake Yeezy 350 V2 Bred 2020 pairs.

2.2.4. The date of manufacturing the shoes’ text
  • Moving on to the “08/20” print on the fake Bred V2s, the text is too thin.

Yet again, the authentic Yeezy Bred 2020 pair proves its quality, as its text is thicker and more defined, rather than the fake pair’s lower-quality thin text.

2.2.5. The “US UK FR JP CHN” inscription
  • The “US UK FR JP CHN” text on the fake Yeezy Bred 2020 is a bit too thin.

And again, the authentic Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred 2020 sneakers have their “US UK FR JP CHN” text thicker as well.

3. Boost sole

The form of the boost sole on the bottom of your Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred can help you determine if you have an authentic pair or not.

3.1. The 2017 release

  • On the authentic pair, the boost sole is quite “bubbly” in terms of structure and there is less differentiation between the boost pellets.
  • You will also see that the striped circles on the boost are more prominent and better defined.
  • On the replica, however, the striped circles have a more structured and mathematical pattern in their arrangement, which missed the randomness of the pattern printing as in the original boost sole.

Let’s look at another comparison:

  • The fake pair has perfectly-aligned pellets.
  • The pellets on the fake Yeezys are not as smooth as the real ones.
  • The fake pellets are also not as pronounced and visible as the real pair.

And then, here’s a last fake example:

3.2. The 2020 release

  • The fake Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred shoes have their pellets improperly defined.
  • The fake pellets are mathematically positioned, as they have this sort of an arranged pattern of being positioned into straight lines.

On the other hand, the authentic Yeezy 350 v2 Bred 2020s have their pellets with this more of a randomized pattern, as the pellets on the legit 2020 Bred Yeezys are not aligned by any means.

Here’s the 2nd comparison:

  • The fake Bred Yeezys have their pellets looking too thin, and also mathematically positioned, once again.

On the other hand, the authentic Yeezy Bred 2020 pair has its pellets look thicker, more visible, and generally more defined rather than the fake pair’s pellets.

And, at the same time, the authentic Yeezy Bred 2020 shoes have their pellets randomly positioned, unlike the fake pair’s once again mathematically positioned pellets.

4. Box label

  • For the fake pair, on the left side of the label, it features the size of the sneakers: “10 ½”, “44 2/3”, “10” and the “US” text at the top left corner is clearly misaligned.
  • The text itself is almost touching the table line above it compared to the text on the authentic box which is clearly separated from the table line and well-aligned.
  • The fake box has the “US” text thicker than the real one.
  • The “CP9652” and “CBLACK/CBLACK/RED” prints are on the fake also misaligned and the text is slightly thinner and fainter compared to the inscriptions on the authentic box which has bold and equal-sized print.

In the last column, you’ll find the serial number of the sneakers. Yeezy Boost 350s are released in two versions – the US version and the international (Canadian/European) version:

  • For the US version, the sneaker size for the US is featured in large print with two other sizes, F – France and UK – United Kingdom in small prints. Thus three sizes in all.
  • On the international version of the sneakers, six sizes are featured on the box (US, UK, F, D, J and CHN), all with equal-sized prints.

Now, the US version which only features three sizes will always have serial numbers that end with a V02 or a V03.

The international version with six sizes, on the other hand, will have serial numbers that end with a V10.

That said, if your box is the US version with a serial number that ends with V10 or an international version with a serial number that ends with V02, then it is very likely you have a replica of the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred.

A quick mention:

  • The steps we’ve written so far are the BEST ways to authenticate this item
  • The next few steps are still reliable methods…
  • … but they apply to non-top-versions of replicas available for this item

If in doubt, we recommend double-checking the steps we’ve explained above this line.

5. Lacing

The authentic shoes must have the exterior side’s lace going beneath the one from the interior side.

If you have the original pair of sneakers:

On the right shoe, the right lace should go underneath the left lace. In the left shoe, the left lace should go underneath the right one.

If you have a fake pair of sneakers:

On the right shoe, the left lace may go underneath the right lace and in the left shoe, the right lace may go underneath the left one.

  • Nonetheless, it is essential to understand that this method of authenticity can only be applied to deadstock (brand new) Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred pairs.
  • If you are buying a second-hand pair, then there is the possibility that the previous owner may have completely un-laced and re-laced them at some point.
  • Also, it is also possible that the fake manufacturers can lace the sneakers to make them look like an authentic pair, as such this lace check is not a foolproof or reliable check for authenticity.

However, it will weed out a lot of fakes instantly, since no authentic Yeezys come laced like that.

6. Insole

For this colourway, when inspecting the insole, there are three main indicators you should pay attention to:

  • The front text
  • The side text
  • The insole’s indentation
  • The print on the rear side.

Each one spots minute differences that will help you identify a replica of the real sneakers. So what differences should you be looking out for?

6.1. Front

  • The letters on the fake pair are slightly thinner than the text on the original pair.
  • The text on the fake pair is also more rounded than it should be, especially noticeable on the “i” letter which has rounded corners, whereas authentic pairs have sharply printed square edges.
  • On the replica, the trefoil logo has rounded corners on the bottom while the authentic trefoil logo has sharp edges.

6.2. Rear

You will notice a serial number printed on the side of the Yeezy Boost V2 Bred Insole.

On the rear side of the insole, we can notice a few things that stand out on the fake Yeezy Bred insole:

  1. Highlighted with the top and left emojis — there’s more space between the Adidas trefoil logo and the hexagonal pattern on the authentic insole.
  2. Highlighted on the bottom — the Adidas text is slightly different in shape and size.
  3. Highlighted on the right — the ® character is not fully printed on the fake insole print.

6.3. Serial number

  • The fake Yeezys have thicker numbers.
  • Spacing is improper as well: see how the dash symbol (“-“) is too close to the numbers.
    • This is most visible in the “5-9” inscription.
  • Also, the dash between “YH” and “0010” is too small on the fake pair.

The authentic Yeezy 350 V2 Bred insole has the same thickness + spacing for each character.

6.4. Indentation

  • The authentic pair of the Yeezy Boost V2 Bred spots multiple well-defined indentations on the side of the insole, whereas the replicas come with just a single indentation.

7. Sole translucency

You will need to carry out this inspection in bright natural light and not under artificial light for the best and most accurate results.

  • If you have an original pair, then the sole should be translucent.
  • However, on the replicas, the sole of the sneakers is going to be slightly opaque, especially around the heel of the sole.

8. Sole logo

  • For the fakes, the Adidas text is printed with lower-quality factory equipment and the trefoil logo is also not as detailed and well-defined.
  • You will also notice that the embossing is very surface, not going as deep as it should.

On the authentic sole, you will see that the lines on the Adidas logo are pretty sharp and defined compared to the barely distinguishable ones on the replicas.

9. SPLY-350 text

A core red “SPLY-350” branding is embroidered on both sides of the sneakers and this text can serve as an indicator when you want to check for authenticity of your Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred.

  • On the replica, the tail on the Y is quite short, it almost looks like a V.
  • This is a difference that stems from the lack of precision of the equipment used by the fake manufacturers compared to the precise and accurate equipment used by Adidas to produce the very legible Y on the original sneakers.

10. Shape

The first indicator of a replica is the length of the tongue.

  • The tongue on the fakes is usually longer than the one in authentic pairs.
  • The tongue on the replicas may also be slightly more rigid compared to the more flexible structure on a real pair.
  • Thus, if your sneakers have an elongated tongue with a not-so-easily-adjustable construction, then it is very likely you have a fake product.

It’s important to stress that it might be difficult to spot some of these differences without our comparison images. To the untrained eye, nothing might look amiss even if you put a fake and real pair side by side.

Why create a fake vs real Yeezy Bred guide?

A couple of years after it was released, the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bred still remains one of the most coveted sneakers in the Adidas Yeezy line.

However, with that much popularity comes a drawback – fake sneakers produced by fake manufacturers and scammers who want to capitalize on the popularity of the sneakers and take advantage of customers who do not know any better.

That said, you do not want to spend your money on a fake pair of sneakers which is why it is essential that you know how to differentiate a fake from the original.

This is why we’ve created the Legit Check App and the company in itself — to prevent people from getting scammed. Make sure you download our app where you’ll find many other guides properly organised and curated.
