In this guide, we’ll teach you how to tell if your Canada Goose is real or fake.

Spot any fake Canada Goose with this guide.

However, we have a separate guide for the Canada Goose Black Label.

Let’s stick with the regular style for now.

How to check if your Canada Goose is real

Check if your Canada Goose is real through the badge. Fake jackets have extra threads and potentially letters out of place.

Authentic-made Canada Goose products are 100% flawless.

1. Badge

1.1. Best replica

  • Authentic: Thinner symbols.
  • Fake: Thicker, bigger inscriptions and leaves.

1.1. Mid replica

  • Authentic:
    • Text has the correct, thinner lettering and more subtly crafted maple leaves.
  • Fake:
    • Text appears too thick and boxy, with the maple leaves also being distinctly thicker in design.

1.3 Low replica

  • Authentic:
    • Features larger leaves and appropriate spacing between them and the text. The “®” character is proportionally correct.
  • Fake:
    • Displays smaller leaves with excessive spacing from the text and a noticeably smaller and skinnier “®” character.

1.4. Older example

  • Here is another original Canada Goose badge.
  • This is an older authentic model.

Older (but authentic) versions may have thicker letters than newer jackets.

2. Coyote fur

Canada Goose uses only authentic coyote fur for their products.

However, the brand stopped using fur in 2021.

2.1. Quality

  • Authentic: Very fluffy, high-density fur.
  • Fake: Thinner, less dense and rich fur.

2.2. Style

The image is no mistake:

  • Above are two authentic Canada Goose furs.
  • See how they are of different styles.
  • Canada Goose used to made different kinds of styles.

While the top may seem thinner and less dense, it is still denser than the fake from the previous picture.

A quick mention:

  • The steps we’ve written so far are the BEST ways to authenticate this item
  • The next few steps are still reliable methods…
  • … but they apply to non-top-versions of replicas available for this item

If in doubt, we recommend double-checking the steps we’ve explained above this line.

3. Neck tag

We’ll now go deep into the 3 most common styles of neck tags.

3.1. Long text

  • Authentic: Thinner, more legible logos.
  • Fake: Thicker and bigger inscriptions.

Due to thickness, the fake “CANADA GOOSE ®” logo is harder to read than the original.

3.2. Short text

These are rather older neck tags.

  • Authentic:
    1. Thinner “CANADA GOOSE®” text.
    2. The “®” symbol is not connected to the word “GOOSE”.
    3. Letters have more space between each other.
  • Fake:
    1. Visibly thicker logo.
    2. “®” is connected to “GOOSE”.
    3. The letters are too in the “CANADA GOOSE ®” print.

3.3. Expedition

Some authentic jackets may have this specific neck tag:

  • These are not replicated as much as the two other styles.
  • In fact, there are very few replicas out there with this label.

4. Content label

This holds all of your jacket’s wash tags.

  • Authentic:
    1. Thinner “STYLE/STYLE” print.
    2. “CANADA GOOSE ®” is also thinner.
  • Fake:
    1. Thicker “STYLE/STYLE” text.
    2. The badge’s text is too thick.

5. Pull tab

This pull tab helps you open and close the zipper.

  • Authentic:
    • Visible “®” symbol.
    • While the letter “R” is not legible, you can see paint inside the circle.
  • Fake:
    • Empty “®” symbol.
    • The letter “R” is missing inside. Not visible at all.

6. Holographic tag

This is about the reflective “CL …” tag.

We’re also taking a look at the “Quality Reassurance” blue tag over here.

  • Authentic:
    • The reflective tag is less shiny, maintaining a subtle reflectiveness.
    • The blue tag is not as vibrant.
  • Fake:
    • The reflective tag is excessively shiny, easily noticeable even without close inspection.
    • The shade of blue for the other tag is too intense.

7. Buttons

  • Authentic: The button’s engraving is thinner.
  • Fake: “CANDA GOOSE” text is too thick.

8. Expedition ®

Not all jackets have this.

This is specific to the Expedition jacket.

Canada Goose Legit Check Guide – “EXPEDITION” Tag
  • Authentic:
    • The “EXPEDITION” tag has clean stitching without any connecting threads between the letters.
  • Fake:
    • The “EXPEDITION” tag exhibits extra threads connecting the letters, indicating poor stitching quality.

9. Price tag

  • Authentic:
    1. Thicker text.
    2. All the characters are closer to each other.
  • Fake:
    1. Thinner inscriptions.
    2. Too much space between each symbol.

Shortlist: Authenticate your Canada Goose

Don’t have enough time to go through the guide?

Use this simple checklist:

  1. Badge: Make sure all the letters have the right thickness.
  2. Fur quality: Fakes have less dense fur, looking slimmer than the original
  3. Neck tag: See if there are thicker inscriptions.
  4. Content label: Fakes have a thinner “STYLE” text and a thicker “CANDA GOOSE ®” logo.
  5. Pull tab: Next to the zippers, and should have a visible “®” inscription.
  6. Holographic tag: Replicas colors are overly-saturated. Too vibrant.
  7. Buttons: Known to have thicker text.
  8. Expedition label: Can have connected letters and extra threads on fakes.
  9. Price tag: Thinner characters with too much space between each other.

So, there you have it; the definitive guide to spotting fake Canada Goose.
