For now, we’ll just focus on the white colorway.

How to spot fake Off-White Air Presto (White)

Inspect the medial text on your Off-White Presto White as it’s the #1 indicator of a fake pair.

Counterfeit versions tend to have overly smudged text, resulting in a thicker appearance not present on the authentic.

1. Medial text

1.1. Left shoe

  • Authentic:
    • Medial text is positioned more to the right side, further away from the sockliner
  • Fake:
    • Medial text is placed too far to the left, too close to the sockliner

1.2. Right shoe

  • Authentic:
    • Medial text is less visible but still legible
    • Text is placed at an appropriate distance from the sockliner on both shoes
  • Fake:
    • Medial text is even less visible than on authentic pairs
    • Text is positioned too close to the sockliner on both shoes

2. “AIR”

  • Authentic:
    • “AIR” text printed on rear tab is more visible and clear
  • Fake:
    • “AIR” text on rear tab is of lower quality and seems easier to wear off

3. Sponge

  • Authentic:
    • Toe box area has a sleek and appropriate size and height
  • Fake:
    • Toe box area appears over-inflated, looking bigger and higher than on authentic pairs

A quick mention:

  • The steps we’ve written so far are the BEST ways to authenticate this item
  • The next few steps are still reliable methods…
  • … but they apply to non-top-versions of replicas available for this item

If in doubt, we recommend double-checking the steps we’ve explained above this line.

4. Cage

4.1. Interior

  • Authentic:
    • Inner cages are properly shaped with defined negative spaces
    • Spaces between bars are smaller, more defined, and less wide
  • Fake:
    • Inner cages have improper shape with rounder, wider, and undefined negative spaces between the lines

4.2. Exterior

  • Authentic:
    • Empty spaces inside the cage are narrower
    • Cage has a subtle and appropriate arch, as indicated by the green line
  • Fake:
    • Empty spaces within the cage are wider
    • Cage appears overly curvy and arched, as indicated by the red line

5. Swoosh

  • Authentic:
    • Small Nike Swoosh logo has a gradual and wider curve on the interior side
    • Midsole Swoosh logo’s edge is thinner and has a proper curve
    • Overall logo shape is accurate with no sudden curves
  • Fake:
    • Small Nike Swoosh logo curves more suddenly and is less wide at the interior side
    • Edge of the midsole Swoosh logo is thicker
    • Logo has an incorrect curve in the middle, making it appear excessively curvy

6. Orange tab

  • Authentic:
    • Shorter in both width and height
    • Corners are sharp and square
  • Fake:
    • Longer in both width and height
    • Often has rounded corners

7. Toe box

8. Size tag

  • Authentic:
    • “XB” text at top of size tag is appropriately placed, not too close to the right edge
    • Text indicating the ID (e.g. “AA3830-100”) has correct font-weight
  • Fake:
    • “XB” text is misplaced, often too close to the right edge of the size tag
    • ID text (e.g. “AA3830-100”) is thicker than on authentic pairs

9. Sole

  • Authentic:
    • Sole squares feature thinner dots
    • Each dot is centered within its respective square
  • Fake:
    • Dots within sole squares are noticeably thicker
    • Misalignment is common, with dots often not centered

10. Swoosh

10.1. Curve

  • Authentic:
    • Nike Swoosh logo exhibits a larger angle, making it appear more curvy.
  • Fake:
    • Swoosh logo on counterfeits often displays a smaller angle, resulting in a less curvy appearance.

10.2. Stitching

  • Authentic:
    • Stitching on and around the Swoosh logo is longer, more textured, and well-defined.
  • Fake:
    • Swoosh logo stitching is shorter and lacks definition.

10.3. Placement

  • Authentic:
    • Nike Swoosh logo is positioned slightly below the line separating the midsole from the toe box area, near the orange tab.
  • Fake:
    • Swoosh logo sits noticeably higher, placed above the aforementioned line.

11. Tongue

  • Authentic:
    • Sneaker’s tongue is of appropriate length.
  • Fake:
    • Tongue often appears excessively long, hanging lower than on legitimate pairs.

12. Insole

  • Authentic:
    • Insole print “THE TEN” is thinner.
  • Fake:
    • “THE TEN” print on the insole is noticeably thicker.

Shortlist: Verify your Off-White Presto

The eleven steps above for distinguishing fake from real Prestos are detailed but time-consuming.

For rapid authentication in 60 seconds:

  1. Medial Text Placement: Often, replicas have text positioned too high and close to the sockliner with varying font weights.
  2. “AIR” Text Analysis: Counterfeit pairs typically have mispositioned “AIR” text and inconsistent letter thickness (including quotation marks).
  3. Toe Box Inspection: Replicas usually present a lifted toe box.
  4. Cage Spacing: Fake OW Prestos often have wider, curved, and stretched spaces between cage lines, unlike authentic pairs.
  5. Inner Cage Swoosh: Replicas tend to have smaller, less curved, and dull Swoosh logos.
  6. Orange Tab Corners: Counterfeit versions often have rounded corners on the orange tab, not sharp as in authentic pairs.
  7. Toe Box Perforations: Replica shoes commonly feature oversized toe box holes.
  8. Size Tag Text: Counterfeit shoes often display thinner text on the size tag than authentic pairs.
  9. Sole Bubbles: Fake OW Presto Blacks often have thicker, misaligned sole bubbles.
  10. Swoosh Details: Pay attention to the Swoosh’s curviness, stitching, and placement; replicas often err in these details.
  11. Tongue Height: Replica versions usually have taller tongues.
  12. Insole Text Thickness: Fakes often display “THE TEN” text that is too thick.
