How to know if your iPhone 14 is original

To know if your iPhone 14 is original, scan its serial number on Apple’s Check Coverage service. A fake serial number can’t ever be scanned.

Don’t worry, it’s not as hard as it sounds.

1. Serial number

Let’s take it step by step.

1.1. Where to find it

Your iPhone 14’s serial number can be found in two ways:

• iPhone: Unlock the phone > Settings > General > About > Serial Number.
• Box: Flip the box upside down > Look at the bottom > Serial Number.

1.2. Scan it

1. Go to this website: checkcoverage.apple.com
2. Enter your serial number in the box
3. Complete the captcha
4. Click “Send“

You’ll then get the results.

1.3. Original

Signs of an authentic serial number:

• Purchase Date: Valid
• Serial number: Same as yours
• Coverage: Various services included (e.g. warranty)

1.4. Fake

For fakes, you most likely won’t get past the “Enter a device serial number” box

Signs of a fake iPhone 14 serial number:

• Invalid: Unrecognized in Apple’s data base.
• Purchase date: Cannot be registered or manually introduced.
• Warranty: Not existing.

In very rare occasions, fake manufacturers can replicate a serial number and add it into the fake device.

However, no fake serial numbers can get through Apple’s database.

2. Lock screen

• Authentic: Correct basic iPhone 14 date + time font.
• Fake: Android font — never provided by Apple.

• Authentic: Correct, Apple signature frame and corners.
• Fake: Android screen frame, with uneven corners.
